Löwenbräu Oktoberfestbier

Oktoberfest ended on Sunday and in honor of this yearly festival I have one more post.

You may be surprised to know (or maybe not) that my local grocery store was only selling two beers in honor of Oktoberfest. They brought in a total of 3 racks (German equivalent of a case) of Löwenbräu Oktoberfest (there still is on the other hand copious of amounts of Paulaner). I've had this beer a few times and decided to pick one up so I could have it fresh in my mouth for a review.

This beer came out looking like the current standard German fest beer, light yellow with a white head. The smell consists of bready malt and some light earthy hops. As one would guess the taste follows closely mainly with more bready malts and cracker with slight grassy hops and even a slight hint of sourness. I would be hard pressed to tell this apart from the Paulaner Oktoberfest I drank the week before. Definitely not inspiring but it is drinkable. I can enjoy this once a year and luckily that is the only time it is available.

Overall: 7/10

Hi, I'm Colin, I love a good hoppy IPA, but I can find immense enjoyment in a solid session beer, imperial stout, quadrupel or a nostalgic beer from my past.
