Rothaus Tannenzäpfle

I have probably made it clear over the course of my blog that I don't care much for pilsners. Don't get me wrong they can be good but at least 80% of the beer I can easily find in Hamburg is a pilsner, and I just don't get it. With that being said this pils from Rothaus is one that I actually like.

The beer looks very much like classic beer as it is clear yellow with a decent white head. The smell consists of grain and bread malts with light grassy hops. The flavor is the same as the nose and tastes smooth and quite drinkable with its slightly sweet malts in the beginning/ middle and a bitter hop finish. This beer isn't complex but is easy to drink. I think people who like pilsners would be even more impressed with this beer than I am.

Overall: 7/10

Hi, I'm Colin, I love a good hoppy IPA, but I can find immense enjoyment in a solid session beer, imperial stout, quadrupel or a nostalgic beer from my past.
